What happens when we die?

Reflection

The veil between this life and the next is a mystery many sacred texts ponder. Across these traditions, there is a profound sense that death is not an end, but a transition. It is a shedding of the earthly form, a return to the Divine, or a continuation of a spiritual journey. The scriptures speak of a profound peace, a release from earthly struggles, and a return to the source of all being. It is a moment of ultimate accountability, where the deeds of a lifetime are weighed, and a new phase of existence begins, often characterized by judgment, rest, or spiritual evolution.

This transition is often understood as a passage into a realm where the soul's true nature is revealed, free from the limitations of the physical body. For some, it is a reunion with the Beloved, a homecoming to the presence of the Creator. For others, it is a step on a path of learning and growth, where the lessons of this life are carried forward. The emphasis is consistently on the spiritual essence that endures, carrying the imprint of one's earthly journey into whatever lies beyond.
