Why do some people leave the Mormon Church?

Reflection

The path of faith can be a winding one, and sometimes, seekers find themselves looking for answers or solace beyond what they have previously known. The scriptures speak of journeys of the soul, of seeking truth, and of the challenges that can arise when one's understanding or path diverges from that of others. They remind us that each individual's spiritual journey is deeply personal, marked by unique experiences, questions, and moments of revelation or doubt.

The scriptures also acknowledge that discipleship can involve trials, and that sometimes, the ways of the world or personal struggles can weigh heavily upon the spirit. Yet, they also point to enduring principles of love, compassion, and the hope of returning to divine embrace, even after periods of wandering. The divine heart is often described as one that longs for all its children to return, understanding the frailties and complexities of the human experience.

"And if it so be that ye shall believe in Christ, ye will also believe in these words, for they correctly testify of him. Wherefore, it is expedient that ye should believe in him, for he is the great Jehovah, the Spirit of God." — Alma 18:36 · Book of Mormon

"And I give unto you a commandment that ye shall teach these things unto your children; that all nations may be taught greater things by and by. Then shall ye teach this gospel unto the children of men." — 3 Nephi 21:32 · Book of Mormon
