Reflection
The Gospels do not state Jesus's exact age at his crucifixion, but we can piece together a careful estimate from what Scripture tells us. Luke tells us that Jesus was "about thirty years old" when he began his public ministry. The Gospels then describe a ministry that included at least three Passovers — suggesting roughly three years of teaching, healing, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
This would place Jesus at approximately thirty-three years old at the time of his death. What strikes the heart more than the number, though, is the fullness packed into those years: a life poured out in love, a mission completed, a sacrifice willingly given. He was young by any measure — in the prime of life — which makes the self-offering all the more profound.

A Question for You
When you consider that Jesus gave his life so young, what does that stir in you about the urgency or the depth of love he embodied?
