What does the Qur'an say about forgiveness?

Reflection

The divine heart overflows with mercy, and forgiveness is a central theme echoing through the sacred verses. It is a quality that God Himself embodies, a boundless attribute extended to all who turn towards Him with sincere repentance. This divine forgiveness is not merely an absence of punishment, but a restoration of relationship, a lifting of burdens, and a promise of peace.

Humanity is called to reflect this divine attribute. Just as God forgives, so too should we extend forgiveness to one another. This act of releasing another from wrongdoing mirrors the grace we seek for ourselves, fostering harmony and compassion within communities and in our personal lives. It is through forgiving that we find our own hearts softened and our spirits lightened, drawing us closer to the divine source of all love and mercy.
